Look: Bodum kitchen ware

I was in John Lewis last week, searching for a pie plate (and just why is it so difficult to find a simple, attractive pie plate?), when I came across something that surprised me. Lost among the food-storage jars, I noticed a tall, sleek number by Bodum. I was under the impression that Bodum only made tea- and coffee- related products, but it turns out I’ve been in the dark. The Danish company now turns out a whole range of kitchen products, and I’ve picked out my favourites from the online shop.

I won’t be replacing my Dualit model with it, but I like that this rubber-sided toaster comes in eight cool colours:

I’m a sucker for mugs of all kinds, especially those that blend form and function as well as this:

I don’t know very many people who keep nuts around for guests, but I do like the look of this sleek nut cracker and bowl:

A large (4-cup) glass measuring jug is one of my kitchen must-haves, and I use mine every day. It’s not nearly as good-looking as this one, though:

I’m somewhat against using paper napkins, but this napkin holder is so stylish- maybe it would work for cloth ones:

It’s not a huge leap from the original Bodum offerings, but if this Chocolatiere doensn’t make you crave cooler weather, nothing will:

Graham and Green

Graham and Green is one of the UK’s most successful home retailers. Publishing four catalogues a year, with several stand-alone shops and online shopping as well, the Notting Hill-based business pedals its own brand of bohemian chic. I went browsing their kitchen products to see what I could find.

I love this Blackboard Clock, practical and adorable on so many levels:

This Top Hat Ice Bucket has the quirkiest vibe, perfect for a Mad-Hatter type party:

I like the little feet and fun colours of these Melamine Egg Cups

The brightly-coloured Acrylic Filgree range includes bowls, plateswine glasses, tumblers and jugs. I love these for a summer party al fresco:

Another whimsical find, this Glass Milk Jug is based on a tetrapack, and seems the perfect mix of fun and elegant:

Garden Trading

Browsing in my local lifestyle boutique on the weekend, I noticed some new homewares mixed in with the usual selection of fashion, accessories, books and gifts. A quick glance at the tag told me the brand was Garden Trading, a UK-based company which I can’t believe hasn’t been on my radar until now.

Originally selling garden and outdoor living products, Garden Trading now deals in kitchenware, lighting and gifts as well. Part shabby chic and part retro kitsch, the look is English charm at its best. I might go out later to have another look in person, but in the meantime, here are my favourite things from the site:

The items that first caught my eye, the Louella Butter dish and Retro juicer (also available as a set):

I can never resist anything in this shade, so I’m coveting this apple green Retro Jug

A touch pricey for me, but this Wall Scoop Cabinet would be useful in any room of the house (I’d love it for my bedroom, to store jewelery):

I like this Mini Chalk Panel Box for its versatility- just label and re-label as needed:

From the Found collection of vintage and reclaimed items, this wooden Fruit Bowl is appealingly rustic:
