Photo find: An IKEA Thanksgiving

So I’m technically a day late with this, but I’m sure you’ll forgive me. After all, I’m not American so I can’t be expected to keep these things straight, can I?

I saw these beautiful photos over on Abigail Ahern’s blog, and they stopped me in my tracks. A beautiful kitchen, mismatched chairs, eclectic lighting and a vintage vibe? Yes, please. I can scarcely believe they’re from the IKEA catalogue; they’ve really been stepping it up with excellent styling lately. I hope you enjoy, and have a Happy Friday and Happy Thankkgiving!

PS. I know I’ve been a bad, bad blogger of late. But school and work are kicking my a** these days, and there are only so many hours in the day. The good news is that classes break up in less than two weeks, so December should be more or less jam-packed with bloggin’ fun.

Design Crush: Kusmi Teas

Anyone who’s picked up a recent copy of Living etc, likes to read about the lives of well-known design bloggers or even just enjoys browsing Flickr will immediately recognize this product. At least here in Europe, Kusmi tea tins have become so ubiquitous as a design statement that a well-styled kitchen countertop, complete with some fresh-cut flowers and a tin of Kusmi Detox, is almost a cliché.

But oh, what a beautiful one. Kusmi, a 140-year-old company with its origins in Russia but head office in Paris, certainly makes a beautiful product. The brightly coloured, mildly baroque tins are lovely to look at, and the fact that each variety has a unique design makes you want to collect them all (hmm, someone went to Marketing 101…). If their multitude of fans are to be believed, the tea itself is delicous, too.

Which is why I’ve finally taken the plunge and ordered myself an Essentials sampler pack. I plan to use the 24 teabags (2 each of the 12 best-selling blends) to suss out which flavours I like best, and they can go on my Christmas list. Perhaps my own charmingly-styled countertop is not too far off!

Photo find: Tine K’s Dark Autumn

Hello everyone! I’m sorry it’s been quiet here for so long, school has been keeping me very busy lately. Still, it will be worth it in the end- perhaps when the rooms I share here are of my own design!

Have you seen the new Tine K catalogue? The Danish home wares company has the most beautiful products, and press photos to match. They call the new collection “DARK Autumn”, and it’s moody, atmospheric and opulent. These photos just capture the essence of a cozy-yet-dramatic Christmas, don’t they? Enjoy, and have a Happy Friday!

Cool Kitchen Drawers: Martha’s Insane Organization

Over at The Kitchn, they’re in the midst of their annual Fall Cure. A whirlwind four weeks of cleaning, organizing and improving that I’ve never actually participated in, but like to watch the progress of just the same. Yesterday, an inspirational gallery of Martha Stewart’s Kitchen Cupboards was posted, and I was blown away. Forget these as actual images of kitchen drawers (this is a styled shoot, people- I doubt even Martha keeps her Tylenol in a small ceramic bowl), but just as art, these are gorgeous:
