Blog Find: Livet Hemma

If you haven’t yet heard of Livet Hemma, the lifestyle blog from Swedish furniture giant IKEA, you’re in for a real treat. Yes, it’s all in Swedish and I for one can’t understand a word of it, but who needs to? With photography, styling ideas and inspiration this gorgeous, the images speak for themselves.

Don’t you just love this? Enjoy, and have a Happy Friday!

Blog Find: Kim’s Kitchen Remodel

I’ve been busy discovering lots of new design blogs lately, so I thought I’d exhume my old Blog Find column and share some of them with you…

This week’s gem: Kim’s Kitchen Remodel. Not an ongoing blog in the traditional sense, this mini-site chronicled blogger Kim’s (one-half the always lovely Desire to Inspire blog) 2008 kitchen reno. It covers everything from her initial ideas and cabinetry choices to demolition, installation and the final reveal. Essential reading for an aspiring kitchen designer like me, but also fascinating for anyone with an interest in home remodels, kitchens or interior design.

Enjoy, and have a Happy Weekend!

Blog Love: Sparkling Ink

I like to tie up the week with an image-heavy post, and today’s gorgeous selection comes from the talented Tiina of Sparkling Ink. I can’t quite remember when I first stumbled across this inspiring blog, but it’s been at least a year and I keep going back for more. Take a look at these mouthwatering, subtly styled images and I’m sure you’ll see why:

You can also follow Tiina on Twitter or check out her Finnish language blog, fanni & kaneli. Oh, and Happy Friday!

Fab Finds: Six Great Blogs

Instead of talking about kitchens today, I thought I’d share some of my recent blog finds with you. There are so many out there that the blogosphere can be overwhelming at times, and I know I’m guilty of sometimes shutting it out, and sticking instead to my tried-and-true reads. But a new blog can be like a new friend- exciting and nurturing- so I like to get out there and “meet” some now and then.

The six blogs I’m sharing today were all found via the blogging class I recently took. Blogging Your Way by Holly Becker and Leslie Shewring was a fantastic course on creative and inspirational blogging, and my fellow students ranged from food bloggers to fashion bloggers, design bloggers to business bloggers. It was hard to choose just six for this post, but I think I’ve found a little something for everyone.

1. going home to roost

Six Great Blogs

I’ve mentioned going home to roost once before, but Bonnie’s fab blog is full of great content, so forgive me for being redundant. I’m a big fan of her weekly Etsy Shop Help series, as well as her thoughts on everything from the femivore movement to fashion.

2. Carrots and Kids

Six Great Blogs

Carrots and Kids is a blog primarily about gardening in the English countryside, with a bit of family, photography and crafting thrown in. Deb writes with a wit and candour that I love, and her Feel Good Friday series has become a must-read for me.

3. Amateur with an Apron

Six Great Blogs

Lisa’s blog is a food blog with a difference: she doesn’t cook with gluten, dairy or soy. You might think, what’s the point?, but you’d be wrong. I’m in love with the concept of her S’mores Cake, and plan to make the Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Muffins soon.

4. Making it Lovely

Six Great Blogs
Making it Lovely is already quite well-known in design blog land, but it’s one I had to include here. Nicole has been blogging about the transformation of her home since 2007, and intersperses that with posts on style, organization and general beautifying. Plus, she named her daughter Eleanor, so you know she’s got good taste ;)

5. Penelope Loves Lists

Six Great Blogs
The tagline “Inspiration for the Unapologetically Organized Soul” just about sums up this lovely blog. With a focus on covetable stationary and obsessive organizing, woven together by funny and readable prose, this is the place for the mildly OCD among you.

6. Good Measure

Six Great Blogs
Good Measure is a blog about the finer things in life. Food, home, style and products all get equal coverage here. For heaven’s sake, this site even makes cleaning look good. A daily read for me.

Photo find: Simply Breakfast

Ok, so Jennifer Causey‘s Simply Breakfast blog isn’t exactly a “find”. Her daily and atmospheric photos of mouth-watering breakfasts are the stuff of internet legend, after all. But that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy some on this lovely Friday morning, does it? Have a great weekend, everybody!

Blog find: forty-sixth at grace

I immediately fell for Nikole Herriot’s blog forty-sixth at grace when I came across it last week, and not just because she’s from my old home of Toronto. Her poetic writing style, her kitchen creations, and her beautiful photography are all much better reasons. Nikole’s shop, Herriot Grace, sells hand-carved wooden spoons and bowls made by her father. They’re really lovely pieces- check it out:

Blog find: Yvestown

I can’t believe that I’ve never stumbled across Yvonne Eijkenduijn’s blog, Yvestown, before. A Dutch photographer and decorator living in Belgium, Yvonne has a creative, retro and feminine style. (Also, a ridiculously cute cat.)
